KRUECK+SEXTON CHOSEN BY DEPARTMENT OF STATE FOR MAJOR ARCHITECTURAL WORK WORLDWIDE

The United States Department of State announced the selection of Krueck+Sexton to lead their renovation and rehabilitation projects at oversees US embassies, consulates and diplomatic facilities.  Through their newly inaugurated Design Excellence program, K+S was chosen as a visionary architect to embed the highest values of American ideals into the rich tradition of foreign diplomatic buildings.

We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to thoughtful, integrated design and to have the opportunity to inspire people worldwide.

JOIN TOM JACOBS FOR A LUNCHTIME LECTURE ON GLASS IN ARCHITECTURE AT THE CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE FOUNDATION

Join Tom Jacobs at the Chicago Architecture Foundation on Wednesday 2/20 at 12:15 during their Engineers Week lunchtime talk series.

Tom will speak about Glass in Architecture, a topic that has yielded a wide range of projects in our office, including: the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, the Crown Fountain, and our new Federal Office Building for the Design Excellence Program of the GSA.

The lunchtime lecture will take place at the CAF at 224 South Michigan.  You can also stream the lecture live at your desk from their website, here.

RON KRUECK FURNITURE FROM UNTITLED NO. 2 AT AUCTION

Richard Wright’s upcoming auction “Important Design” will include 3 furniture pieces designed by Ron Krueck from our project Untitled No. 2.  This auction includes a pair of Chicago Club chairs and an RK Chaise lounge (ca. 1987).  Both  have been published within numerous design publications.  A rare opportunity to collect these limited edition pieces!

TOM JACOBS TO PARTICIPATE IN ARCHI-SALON AT THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO

Join us on Saturday, November 17th from 2-4pm as Tom participates in an Archi-Salon discussion titled “INSIDE OUT: Uncovering Possibilities from within the Discipline.”  The Art Institute of Chicago is hosting the event at the museum, where he will join other notable architects and thinkers including: Matthias Hollwich, Michel Rojkind, Jeanne Gang among others.  Iker Gil of MAS Studio and MAS Context is moderating the event.

KRUECK+SEXTON’S RESTORATION OF CROWN HALL FEATURED IN ARCHITECTURAL RECORD

The latest issue of Architectural Record magazine includes a story entitled “The Architecture of Architecture Schools,” which includes some information and images in regards to S.R. Crown Hall at the Illinois Institute of Technology and  our restoration work on Mies van der Rohe’s landmark building.

TWO K+S PROJECTS RECOGNIZED WITH AIA CHICAGO AWARDS

K+S  is proud to share that two of our projects have won AIA Chicago 2012 design awards!

Our project for Tishman Speyer at 1730 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC has received a Divine Detail Special Recognition Award, with the jury commenting that the added facade is a “new way of thinking.”

Our S.N. Shure Theater in Niles IL has received the presitigious Interior Architecture Honor Award, the highest award that can be bestowed upon an interiors project.

We thank our great teams of consultants on these projects for their help and expertise, our forward-thinking clients who recognize that good design is good business, and the AIA jury members who found interest in our work.

MARK SEXTON PRESENTS AT NATIONAL AIA TAP CONFERENCE, STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Mark had an opportunity to present our work and design process on the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies and the Federal Office building in Florida for the Design Excellence Program of the GSA.  Mark’s presentation, chosen for the 2012 Technology and Practice National AIA Conference at Stanford University,, was entitled ”The Evolution of High Performance Facade Design.”
